  • An American Perspective on Europe: The Wings

    Jun 27, 2006, 03:59 am
In part three of our four part series we look at the wing players or wannabe wing players available in this draft. We find three age eligible 1984-born prospects, one lock first rounder, one first round hopeful, and two that could be draft and stash prospects for the second round.

Thabo Sefolosha is a long wing player who combines American athleticism with European fundamentals. Marquinhos is a rangy Brazilian with good touch from the perimeter but limited experience in competitive five on five settings despite his age. Lior Eliyahu is a prolific combo forward who is one of the most improved players in Europe over the past few years. And Panagiotis Vasilopoulos is a smart and reliable all-around player who is a key rotation piece on an excellent Euroleague squad.

    Jun 13, 2006, 09:30 am
The second day of the Reebok Eurocamp in Treviso arrived with little changes in the general landscape. Following a similar scheme of drills in the morning and games in the evening, the novelty comes in the form of a daily real game against a U-20 National Team. Unfortunately, the first feature was Finland, a very weak opponent for the young squad put together for the occasion. Croatia and Italy are expected to bring a lot more interest in the remaining days.

  • J.P. Batista NBA Draft Scouting Report

    May 24, 2006, 02:40 pm
Most of Batista’s damage comes within 10 feet of the basket. His massive frame and outstanding lower body strength allow him to establish deep position in the paint, while his fantastic hands allow him to catch anything thrown his way and his footwork, smarts and super-soft touch around the hoop do the rest. Once Batista gets the ball in the paint he is almost impossible to stop at this level as he could very well be the strongest player in the entire country. He also has great post skills and a high basketball IQ to go along with that. Fouling him is an option, but unlike most brute big men, Batista shoots 85% from the line.
  • Marquinhos, Morro, Kinsey; DraftExpress Private Workout

    May 11, 2006, 03:47 am
DraftExpress had the opportunity this past week to sit in at a workout with some of the more mysterious prospects in this year?s draft, featuring Brazilians Marquinhos and Morro at Cleveland State University. The Brazilian duo was joined by South Carolina?s Tarance Kinsey, who made a name for himself in March with an excellent performance in the NIT. The three are being trained by former Hornets and Cavalier assistant coach Bob Donewald, who spent this past season coaching Marquinhos? team in Brazil.
