I watched this guy for the first time last night and he has pretty forgettable ... everything I've read about him suggest that he should be great but just doesn't dominate like he can/should ..... he's a senior and is running out of time to shed that image ..... I don't see many Bearcats games but this one he was exactly what the knock against him is ... good numbers 14 pts, 9 rebs but to the line only twice .... you can see it in his moves that he has some but just doesn't have the personallity to take over I guess

I agree. Another very disappointing outing from James White, even though he did have two pretty awesome breakaway dunks. I can't help not thinking every time I watch him that he really is lacking in the toughness department. His body language stinks at times and even his midget guards disrespect him by not giving him the ball.
Even when he does drive to the basket he seems to have no body control at all. As if he can only go one direction and that's forward, you'll never see him slither around traffic and then explode the way we all know he can.

I look at White as a role player in the NBA, so my expecations are a little different. I like the guy, he scores effeciently, he's a good passer, and he plays a team game. I doubt he will ever reach the superstar level that a lot of people expected him to reach, but I do expect him to be a solid role player in the NBA, unless he ends up playing for a coach who can get more out of him.

He obviously has the talent to be a great player but I think he lacks that aggresive mentallity when takin it to the hole. I'd like to see him use that leaping ability over people and get tougher. He should be a 1st rounder and I think if he is in the right system and gets the proper coaching, he could take it to the next level.

Yep, I should clarify, even though he doesn't look like he'll be able to reach his full potential, there is still a lot to like about the guy and he should definitely be on an NBA roster next year and probably for years to come. His attitude looks good and he's a pretty solid teammate with his passing ability, defense and highlight reel dunking ability. Like whodey said, there is always the possibility that a good coach manages to bring out more out of him, which is why he is worth the gamble in the late 1st round. He could go much higher even if he has some great workouts which I know he can.

I have been telling my buddies that ever since White went to Cincy, he would get better every year, and that eventually in the NBA he will be an all-star if he goes to the right team with the right coach. He won't be able to play in a half-court system like the Knicks because i don't think that he knows how to use his world class athletic ability in that type of game.

I see him having a Stromile Swift/Darius Miles type career .... he'll look average/non-existant for 5-6 games and then dump 25 with a few assits and a few boards .... keep teasing ya with his potential but never living up to it completely .... this is going on very limited viewing of him on my part but just a feeling I have

i really think that it will depend on what team he goes to. if he goes to a running team then i think he has a good chance to be very good more consistently.
