Poor kid. Everyone was talking about him, especially after the McDonald's All-American game. Too many injuries.

Sucky coach and team at Notre Dame didn't help much either.

Don't see Torin amounting to anything in the NBA. Has a good NBA body, but really just hasn't shown much over the past couple years to make me think he could have any level of NBA success.

could a good coach turn him into what he should have been?

Watched the Notre Dame vs West Virginia match recently and Francis didn't impress me much. Wouldn't hurt an NBA team to take him at the bottom of the 2nd as he has a ptototype NBA body and can give you garbage points, some boards and 6 fouls. He'll probably be a journeyman like Tony Massenburg.

I haven't seen him long time ago but now I watched him in some highlights. Didn't he lose his explosiveness and leaping ability? I mean almost all of it.

He seemed to be pretty unathletic even at NCAA standards. He barely could dunk at 6'11.

I saw him play in high school in Boston and at Syracuse. He is athletic but the injuries have limited him. I can't say whether its just the succession of injuries having lept him from recovering fully or if they have ruined his physical ability by now. If he is able to recover his athletic ability then he is a legit prospect with first round talent. He will never be big enough or strong enough to play down low without his athletic ability, but with it reminds me of mcdyess a bit (in between old mcd and current athletically, better iq and better outside game). A good coach could potentially recover his ability and game if the injuries are just on top of each other and not actually deconstructive. Does anybody know more about their nature?

Yep, he's become very robotic these days. Stiff in an awkward kind of way, and he's completely lost any confidence he once had in his game. Unfortunately I think he is off to Europe unless some super trainer can make some kind of miracle with him this summer.
