Amundson has had pretty good work outs proving himself a legit second rounder. The Lakers could even take him with the 51st pick. Mund is an aggresive player who will make his living in the League off of defense and hustle plays. He sets hard screens and can rebound. He would be a good fit in LA to set screens for Bryant, and make the former #1 pick look like an even bigger joke.

But I have to ask you, where was this guy during the past four years... Late bloomer, sure... But I had at least heard of Solomon Jones, Justin Williams, Kenny Adeleke and other late bloomers. Amundson is a complete mystery to me and it brings up the question: If you cannot be a standout (offensively or defensively) on a weak UNLV team in a very weak MWC during his four seasons, how can he be a valuable a commodity come draft day?
I mean, if he was not even mentioned in the same breath as (other western "of notes") Fazekas, Slaughter, Millsap, Hood, Karl, Heath, Sensley, or even Jason Smith, how has his stock risen so much. Isn't his invisibility act of his first three seasons suspicious or anything?
I'm not accusing him or anything, I'm just wondering.

He's a hustle guy, not a guy who controls paint. This type of players looks as good as his team does.
His body type is a lot like a thicker Adam Morrison. I didn't follow his career extensively but I saw several games in MWC this season. He has a motor that just doesn't stop. He seems to be everywhere playing defense, getting rebound and running on the break.
To be honest his game just doesn't stick out a lot. But he is very effective and would be a good pick for a team needing defensive depth at SF and small PF's.

i thnk amundson could go late second rounder but he is an undersized PF that could go undrafted. he is a prototypical hustle player off of an nba bench with his aggresiveness but i dont see him developing into anything more

WELL....Louis, had a staph infection as a sophomore and redshirted the whole year. When he came back, he was forced to startas a redshirt freshman because the juco transfer big men, (JK Edwards and James Peters) hadn't qualified for 10 games....Lou ended up nearly averaging a double/double until those guys qualified. However, when they came on board, his minutes were reduced and then he had to fight off the staph infection on and off his redshirt sophomore season.
His junior year, the head coach retired (Spoonhour) and Kruger was hired. The team was senior heavy when Kruger got there, and there were some serious issues with that team. The chemistry was bad, and some internal issues.....Lou still had a decent season, and had some great games.
In Lou's senior season, he finally played on a team that the players' didn't run the show (Marcus Banks dominated the ball Lou's Sophomore season, then Blassingame/Blankson both fought over posessions during Lou's Junior season....Lou was strictly a cleanup guy. His Senior season, Lou took advantage of the better chemistry and team play....and Lou stepped up and took over the team as a hard-working leader.

Actually Lou's got the type of game that a few teams/General Managers absolutely love. Lou is a cleanup guy, a guy that runs the floor very well, plays above average defense, and isn't high maintenance. He's a great compliment player, and a guy that any given night can give the team 15 pts and 15 boards......but won't do that consistently....just enough for a team to pick him up and use him as a sparkplug off the bench. I doubt he goes undrafted, and could even sneak into the first round if some team falls in love with his game.

Thanks for the career information. That makes a little more sense, though I still wish I had heard of him earlier. From the looks of things, he is going to be a good talent in the league.

Based on what I've learned about Amundson, I'm thinking he's the next David Lee. 10-15mpg max and 5pts/6reb at the next level. Amundson could be a nice complimentary player to a team like Indiana, where he would provide depth next to the less-physical Peja and Croshere.

I agree that he would be nice on the Pacers, but I also think he would fit in nicely as a reserve with the Lakers, Rockets, Nets, Suns, Blazers, and Mavs (should they not re-sign Van Horn). Mund helped himself tremendously at Orlando. He went from being regarded as a late 2nd rounder to a potential but doubtful 1st rounder to early 2nd. He played along side guards that weren't shy of launching up shots, but Mund still lead UNLV in scoring, along with rebounding.
He has some impressive games against good competition such as:
25 points and 10 rebounds vs. OK State
20 points and 8 rebounds vs. Justin Williams/Wyoming.
19 points and 13 rebounds vs. Texas Tech
15 points and 17 rebounds vs. Oregon State
They aren't great teams, but it gives you an idea of what Mund is capable of.
Also impressive was his domination against Hawaii. 39 pts and 33 rebs in 2 games.
