View Full Version : Ali Traore
I have seen the predraft camp article on draftexpress. I have also seen several other rights about the camp winners and losers. Draftexpress report states that he looked none athletic and out of shape, but he does not looking like it; The other sites states he looked very athletic. They had Ali in their top five winners of predraft camp winners. I think he is a late first rounder last 3 or 4 picks. Why do I think he can go this high? He can play center; He want have to play quicker power forwards. I have watched film on him in the french league. He is good low post player. Ali has a the well developed body; he can help a team right a way. The Phoenix and Pilly could use physical centers. Individual workouts we be the key.

i think he went from a late second rounder to a guy who could still go late second but move up all the way to early second. someone will draft him because he is an international player with good upside and is strong and athletic.

Ali will get drafted. But he won't move into the second. he will be somewhere 40-50 range. I can see a team like POR using 1 of their 4 2nd rounders on him, and keeping him overseas, until they have an open roster spot for him, or until he proves to be a downlow presence in the NBA.

He is a guy with questionable basketball desire, right? I'd still say he's a risk to pick, but he sure looks like this year's poster boy for late-draft fliers.

He could be, but if I was a GM i'd gamble on him in the late 2nd.

Why not gamble with a Chris Richard or Carl Landry instead? If it is strictly because you can "stash" Traore for a year or as long as he needs overseas, then I think the pick should be used on the aforementioned similarly-skilled college players. If they're gone by the last few picks, then yeah, Traore should get some attention from the 50-60 picks, but IMO Richard and Landry are fighting for those same spots.

yeah Landry, I could agree with. Richard, however, I would go with the unknown and Ali. But you bring up a good point with Landry. I however think Landry will be gone before pick 55, leaving Ali, a good risk pick at the end of the draft.
He just got over a foot injury so he is out of shape. If Ali Traore has a great showing at the eurocamp anyhting could happen. Some GM may draft him in the late first or early second. Other media sources think he may be a late first round pick. They think he looked very athletic. If Ali rebounds well in at the Treviso; he will move into late first. He can score around the basket and shoots out to 15 feet. Traore is at least going in the early second.
Look at the last several years at the end of the first round Ian Mahinmi and Joel Freeland any thing can happen.
