I was very impressed by young 19 year old centre Andrew Ogilvy after reviewing his team's performance in the recent tournament in France. He was by far the best centre playing in that tournament, and has a big future ahead of him. He is currently developing his game at the famed Australian Institute of Sport.
Standing at 7'0" and about 240 lbs, he has a great body already, has good athleticism and a mature inside game. He is a very good passer like Bogut, and is competent as running the floor. He loves physical contact and is able to finish off his hard work. A strong defender and shot blocker, his only apparent downfall is that he doesn't have the quickest foot speed.
He looks like a definite NBA prospect and could nominate for the 2008 or 2009 draft. Remember you heard it first here....
What do others think of his potential?

2009 draft. Remember you heard it first here....
Actually no. I heard it first on nbadraft.net: http://www.nbadraft.net/2007douai001.asp
He looked nice but wasn't that impressive in the two first days in Douai. The U-19 worlds will be a nice chance to scout him deeply.
hmm, I read it first on my own Site. Ok, I don't like self promo...
I think he has good moves, and nice speed for a player of his size.

Genjuro,
Will you be able to take a look at Ogilvy in Caceras next week? If so, I'd be very interested to hear your thoughts on him.
I am a Vanderbilt alum, and am excited to see what Ogilvy will do against SEC competition in the fall.
Thanks!

Being an Aussie who has yet to see him play, I would also love to hear anyone's thoughts about his NBA potential. I regularly keep up with NBA chat, rumours, and draft sites like this one. Nbadraft.net has him going number 20 in their 2008 mock draft based on what they saw of him. While they don't have as thorough analysis of players as draft express, they usually get projections spot on. Looking forward to hearing about him in the worlds and then seeing how he plays at Vanderbilt (unfortunately, by seeing I mean checking box scores on the internet from Australia). Keep the info coming guys. Cheers.

Yay...Finally a mention of AJ Ogilvy on draftexpress. He's still not projected as a draft prospect though. Perhaps draftexpress does not see him as a one and done kind of guy. Any news on where draftExpess has Ogilvy going in the draft?

I'm aussie and saw Andrew play in the junior worlds through eurosport channel. He played vs Brasil in QF game and looked very agile and strong with nice post moves. He looks similar player to Bogut but without the jump shot.On deffense though he got owned by brazilian big man Prestes i think he's called whos' about 6'11 and 260.The brazilian big man plays similar to Nene Hilario but thats for another topic.I beleive Ogilny will play ncaa hoops next year.

Can someone explain to him why Bogut's hair is not cool now and save him embarrassment later

I too am from Aus and have played against him in SEABL (semi-pro ball comp) competition and I can tell you this, the kid has got game....He's bigger than Bogut at the same age, he has a good repertoire of post moves on the block (he does prefer the left block), has a good mid range J, a solid shot blocker and a good rebounder, and he is quicker and more athletic than Bogut is (good explosiveness in the paint)....
