Curtis Stinson said Monday he will return to the Iowa State basketball program next year for his senior season.

"I'm a player, and I'm playing for four years," said Stinson, who's averaging 19.4 points a game. "I think Will (Blalock) will be here, too. We're together. We're a family. We're going to stay as a family."

Stinson also defended coach Wayne Morgan, whose Cyclones have lost five of their last six games and are 15-12 overall and 5-9 in the Big 12.

"If you want to point a finger, point it at me," he said. "Don't point it at coach Morgan.

"He works hard to get us ready. He does his job by coaching and getting us ready, and he does a good job of that."

Morgan started speculation earlier this month that Stinson might enter the NBA draft by saying he may recommend that his star go pro "because he could help take care of his family."

The comment was made after Stinson had 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a 96-79 win against Colorado. Stinson, 23, said after the game that he would listen to his coach. "If coach recommends that I go to the NBA, then it will happen," he said.

Stinson played great this year, only dropping under double-digit scoring once against Texas.
