Am I the only one who thinks he needs to put on at least 10 pounds of bulk? I could see the Wizards taking him and throwing him at the end of their bench for a couple of seasons.

He needs no bulk, as he's up to a solid 235 lbs. now. Marquinhos has a great body for a SF, and might even be able to play a little spot PF when need be.

He is moving up in the charts of the Mock Draft. Anyone knows why? And how has he done in the workouts?

Hey, thanks for the answer. I had read the article before though.

If I'm not wrong, before that workout Marquinhos was in the #30's of the Mock Draft. After reading the article, I looked it up and noticed that he was listed as the 28th pick. So when I saw him listed this week as the 23th pick, I assumed it was the result of yet another good workout. Well, everything is clear now....

think marquinhos will go between the 23-27 range so late first round. i also think he will be a bust like other foreign players in the past. i see dallas taking him at 28 to add some depth at the wing postion where stackhouse is getting older. but with daniels and howard already on the team i don't see him playing all too much. word is he is coming to nba not going to stay overseas which is a mistake i think his game would benefit by the team drafting him keeping him over to develop some more.

Why will this guy be a bust? Are his stats against Div III equivalent talent? Sounds like it but workout reports have him on par with top talent. He could go any where in the draft it sounds like based who sees him and what they think about him. I saw a report on a Laker board saying he was better for the Triangle Offense than Branden Roy. Of course it also stated that MArquinhos had run the triangle in Brasil.

I havent seen Marquinhos enought to predict something, but is really strange call a late first round pick a bust. Higher when we're in the front of a weak draft like this one.

Paying so little and with just two years of guaranteed contract (under the new rules) and with the plus of NBDL stuff, I think that the late first round is the right place to bet in some potential.

I guess that is correct to say. But he could go higher, like 10-15. If he is picked that high he could be a bust. In the 20's he would not be. Of course he could be just a waste of money.

Like I said, I dont know Marquinhos' game enough, but I think that would be a big risk to draft him in the lottery (even in this weak draft), due the fact he has been played in weak competition for years. It'd be a kind of Korolev move, or even worst, because Korolev is younger and aparentely more talent.

But in 23/27 range, as coachjon predict, you shouldnt say that there is a bust's risk, because most of players choosen there never finish doing the rotation. In today's article in Akron Beacon Journal there is a intersting quote proving that:

The Cavs would be thrilled if they could land a rotation player at No. 25. Historically, about 30 percent of the players taken between 20-30 make it, and the somewhat muddy waters this year make it even tougher on the Cavs. Because they don't have a first-round pick next year (traded to Boston for Jiri Welsch), the Cavs can't trade out of the first round, although they can swap picks on draft night.

In this case, bet in international could be a great move. Just look 1999's late first round:

20 Atlanta Dion Glover 6-5 235 SG Georgia Tech Fr.
21 Golden State (c) Jeff Foster PF 6-10 260 SW Texas St.Sr.
22 Houston Kenny Thomas 6-8 255 PF New Mexico Sr.
23 LA Lakers Devean George 6-7 225 SF Augsburg College (MN) Sr.
24 Utah Andrei Kirilenko 6-9 205 SF Russia 1981
25 Miami Tim James 6-7 221 SF Miami Sr.
26 Indiana (c) Vonteego Cummings 6-5 190 PG Pittsburgh Sr.
27 Atlanta (d) Jumaine Jones 6-8 210 SF Georgia So.
28 Utah Scott Padgett 6-9 240 PF Kentucky Sr.
29 San Antonio (e) Leon Smith 6-10 237 PF Martin Luther King High

Could the Utah do better?
