This afternoon Datome has played a spectacular game: 27 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assist in 23 minutes of play, with 11/16 from the field!
That's impressive.

Has it anything to do with Siena being out from Euroleague? I mean Datome's minutes, because he wasnt playing much lately and today he got 23 minutes. Or was it just he got going early and coach gave him chance to finish it?

Recalcati sucks with young players... he usually doesn't trust in them... that's why Datome played few minutes against Asvel and not entered against Ulker and Real Madrid (3 much important games to try to reach Top 16)... even if Datome played two great games against the best team in Europe (Panathinaikos) and showed he was ready for such a high level...
Today Datome could have been easily scored 40 or more points with 30 or more minutes... ;)
Too bad Recalcati said "Datome won't be in Japan with Italy NT"! :(

Here in Italy some newspapers say Luigi Datome was invited for the 2006 Hoop Summit. But the USA Basketball site doesn't mention of that... :???:
Is it true?
In the World Team roster Datome isn't there:

Datome looked very impressive in Memphis at the Hoop Summit. All week long his shot looked very good, and he had just the right combination of team-involvement and his own determination to score. I think he will be a mid first round pick in 2 years. Bostan Nachbar/Jiri Welsch anyone?

I knew I recognized Datome's name when I saw him yesterday, I saw this thread before. Well I hope he develops into a good player....

Datome is a guy that has dominated junior competitions for some time now but still hasn't made a mark at the senior level overseas so it is hard to gauge his NBA worth. he does look like he could develop into a top prospect down the road though.
He is versatile, athletic, slasher, good shooter out to 3 (can hit from midrange and from 3 but is still streaky from deep and release is slow), good lowpost moves, excels in uptempo game, good ballhandler, scorer, good passer, good wingspan (allows him to block some shots), good rebounder, he needs to add weight/strength, plays as a combo forward isn't really a SF or a PF right now, poor on ball defender because he gambles too much.

Apart "poor on ball defender", Tyshaun Prince anyone? ;)

Why don't the domestic playoffs (Italian and Serbian imparticular) push everything up about a month so that so many players and prospects dont have to miss key summer events. If for nothing more than giving their own country plenty of time to have their best ready for summer competition.
