I like this move a whole lot more then the salmons deal. He is cheaper more talented and can dunk on the moon plan b really is the better plan only thing will miss about salmons is his size but freddie makes up for it
eh, Fred Jones is a poor man's Desmond Mason. No outside shot, not a great handle, and small for SG. I like the deal better than the Salmon deal simply because he's cheaper and Salmons hasn't shown ANYTHING so far. But I don't expect much out of Jones, just a crowd/energy guy off the bench.
No, Fred Jones was a poor mans Desmond Mason went he first came into the league. He has improved immensly and while he is no all-star he is a very good player. He can now shoot and dribble besides his off the charts athleticism. Players can improve after they get into the league.
Also, how tall do you think he is? He is written down as 6-4 but he is more 6-2 or 6-1 to me?

I dunno about dribbling, but he definetely can't shoot. 42% from the field, 34% from 3 last year, which was actually worse than his previous year.
He's 6'2, 220lbs, so he gives up a lot of height night in and out. He does not shoot effectively, we can say that. When his shot isn't falling, it's not like he completely makes up for it in free throws, a la Adam Morrison. And he doesn't have a broad enough repertoire (passing, rebounding etc.) to effect the game in any other way than attacking the defense in the open court or with his shaky jumper. I give him credit for becoming a pretty good defender, but he's a gimmick, a different look that sometimes catches teams off guard, to the tune of 15 points.
You really can't compare him with Desmond Mason. Their style is sort of different. Fred Jones, in my opinion, is a poor man's Steve Francis, with better three point shooting. He's not a PG and is too short for the SG spot. He could be an offensive threat, but will probably be a defensive liability if he has to guard the taller and greater SGs of the league.
Jones is a good pickup for Toronto. They are 2 deep now at almost every position. Plus look for a Suns run-n-gun type offense when Ford, Jones, Mo Pete, Bargnani, and Bosh are all on the floor.
If they don't start Nesterovic then they should play with Garbajosa instead of Bargnani, Garbajosa is a good, tough defender in the paint.I was watching some Raptors summer league games and Bargnani was horrible defensively, especially the Celtics youngster made him look like a clown, he couldn't even outrebound small guards and got dunked on...oh man.
I would also take Parker over Jones.
