SPOTLIGHTED GAMES

-OREGON AT ARIZONA (Pac Ten). Big showdown between two of the heavyweights. Oregon has had a big year, but most of their big wins have come at home. Beating a top five caliber team like Arizona on the road will be as tough a test as they face all year. Still, they are 15-1 and will remain in solid shape regardless of what happens. The Spokane region would be ideal for Oregon for the first/second round and a win in this game would make them as good a candidate for the pod system as any. It would also really spike their RPI and SOS up. Arizona lost on the road to Washington State last week, but still appears to be a strong candidate for a #1 seed. A loss today would keep them in the mix, but it might be a slight knock to their profile. Expect a very fast paced game, seeing as how Arizona loves to push the pace.

OTHER HIGHLIGHTED GAMES

-OHIO AT KENT STATE (MAC). Ohio is a respectable 10-4 on the year, and although they haven’t accomplished all that much on paper as of yet, they are a very strong team that could end up dominating the MAC and getting some consideration from the committee, especially if they wind up winning their Bracket Buster game. That will be their only shot at a quality win, though, so they pretty much need to win out if they want a decent shot at making it. Kent State is streaky and this is a rivalry game, so Ohio could be in for a war. Remember, Kent State gave Duke they could handle earlier this season, but it isn’t every day that they play that well.

-DUKE AT MIAMI, FL (ACC). Miami just won a big game against Maryland, whereas Duke has lost two in a row. Even with that, Duke appears to be a much better team, and they should win this game on the road. If Duke were to lose, it would be their third straight and they’d be faced with digging themselves out of a hole, which isn’t easy in a league like the ACC.

-ILLINOIS AT MICHIGAN STATE (Big Ten). Both of these teams really need a win. Illinois ended a three game losing streak with a win against Iowa, but they still don’t look anything like a solid NCAA Tournament team. Winning at Michigan State would really help their cause. Michigan State hasn’t looked all that solid either, so both of these teams really need to win this game in order to start solidifying their resumes.

-SETON HALL AT NOTRE DAME (Big East). Notre Dame has been tremendous at home this season, and is coming off a big win against West Virginia. This is as winnable of a Big East game as they are going to get, so they really need to take advantage of it. Seton Hall just won convincingly against Saint John’s, but winning at Notre Dame will be a much bigger challenge.
