HIGHLIGHTED MATCH-UPS

-MONTANA AT GONZAGA. Montana has a very good team this year, so the Zags need to be on upset alert. Montana blew out Colorado State in their season opener, and would love to take down a Top 25 Caliber team like Gonzaga. This is the season opener for the Zags, and they could be in for a battle. For Montana, it’s a chance to put what would most likely turn out to be a big quality road win on their resume. Gonzaga will have plenty of chances at quality wins, so it probably isn’t as important to them, but it’s still not a game that they want to drop at home.

-NEVADA AT UCF. Nevada lost quite a bit of talent, but should have a strong team again this year. This is a big test for them going up against an up and coming UCF team, who could end up making some noise in Conference USA. Both teams appear to have potential, but it’s still uncertain as to how good either will be this year, and that’s what makes this such an interesting game.

-SAN DIEGO STATE AT FRESNO STATE. Both teams managed to win their first game, and Fresno looks to be one of the better teams in the WAC this year. A win here would get either team to 2-0, and since both teams appear to be decent this year it should be a win of some significance.

-SAINT LOUIS AT PITTSBURGH. This is Rick Majerus’s first real test as SLU’s head coach. Pitt rolled up North Carolina A&T in their first game and although they should get a tougher test today, it should still end up being a win for them. If SLU were to pull the upset, though, it would get them onto the national stage pretty quickly.

-UC SANTA BARBARA AT STANFORD. UCSB looks like one of the best teams in the Big West this year and may have what it takes to get in a position to earn an at-large. They blew past their first two opponents, but will get a much tougher test today from a very strong Stanford team. Still, this is the kind of win UCSB needs on their resume if they want to get serious consideration from the committee. It’s early, but this is a very important game. It would be a good win for Stanford as well, although they’ll have many more opportunities later on. UCSB won’t have quite as many, so this is a little more important to them.

BUY GAMES

-TENNESSEE TECH AT FLORIDA. The Gators got a bigger fight than they were probably expecting in their season opener, but managed a win. They shouldn’t struggle as much in this one.

-NORTHEASTERN AT ILLINOIS. This is the season opener for both teams. Illinois has a lot of questions surrounding them when it comes to how good they are. They don’t want to stumble right out of the gate.

-UMKC AT KANSAS. UMKC will probably try and slow it down and rely heavily on their outside shooting, but they’ll need a miracle if they want to knock off Kansas.

-PITTSBURGH STATE (nondiv1) AT KANSAS STATE. K State rolled in their season opener and will likely do the same today.

-BROWN AT MICHIGAN. Both teams are 1-0, but Michigan should win big time today.

-MONMOUTH AT SETON HALL. Seton Hall could be a sleeper in the Big East. We shouldn’t learn too much about them today considering who they’re playing, but we could be hearing from them in a big way later on.

-VERMONT AT VIRGINIA. Vermont gave George Mason a scare in their season opener, but couldn’t get over the top. They appear to be a good team, but it isn’t likely that they’ll upset Virginia.

-IPFW AT WISCONSIN. Wisconsin lost a lot of talent from last year, but shouldn’t have any trouble starting off with a win.

-PACFIC AT OREGON. Pacific is an improved team, but they probably aren’t improved enough to win on the road against Oregon.
