RBK Treviso Eurocamp 2006: Day Two
June 13, 2006
Even if all heights should be taken with a grain of salt, the tallest player measured here has been Roman Gumenyuk (7-3 ĺ with shoes), who is once again participating in the camp, but who has barely shown any improvement from what he displayed last year, according to our Italian collaborator Marco Fracasso. His game screams raw any way you look at it, and so does his skinny body. He looks very unpolished in the low post and gets constantly pushed around by stronger rivals, while his frame doesnít look too promising. Roman is still young, but he should be already showing some meat in his game. He canít live forever off his supposed potential.

The Reebok Eurocamp in Treviso
June 17, 2005
This guy raised some eyebrows in the 2004 edition of the camp, even if both his body and his game were very raw, because of his size, quickness and coordination. He has vastly improved in all aspects during the last year. And while still being very skinny, he has added some meat to his body, and improved his shot and his post moves. He was supposed to be still growing, but looks just as tall as he was a year ago. At this point he's still a player who could be impressive in practice and have some good short stretches in games, but he has a long way to go in his understanding of the game, on both sides of the floor to be effective. A player to follow in the future, he could become a lottery pick in 2-3 years because of his physical attributes, but he has his work cut out for him until then.

2004 Reebok Euro Big Man Camp
June 3, 2004
One of the players to keep in consideration for the future is Roman Gomenyuk. A potential future lottery pick in 2-3 years if he continues to improve. He's young at only 16 years of age and very slim, very tall, albeit with a long neck, which makes him seem a bit taller than he actually is. Impressively athletic for a guy his size; quick feet and jumps very well (27 inch vertical). Unorthodox shooting stroke, with a very slow release that needs to be worked on. Looked extremely frail, especially on his upper body, like most Europeans he needs to work hard on adding bulk to his frame. Seems to understand the game well, and has good moves close to the basket, which is good to see in a big man. Put a beautiful move on Pavel during the one on one drills, a little Hakeem dream hook that left whoever was watching extremely impressed. Blocked shots on the fast break during games, and didn't seem to shy away from contact at all. Still growing supposedly. Lots of potential, but still a few years away at the very least. A prospect to watch closely.
